FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Next Play Basketball (NPB)?
A program that teaches players the fundamentals of basketball while helping them develop the Next Play mentality, a mindset that empowers individuals to succeed both on and off the court. We foster a basketball community that embodies THE Next Play mentality through Togetherness, Heart, and Excellence (THE).
Who started Next Play and Why?
Ryan Ansel and Matt Paul founded Next Play Basketball. Over the past 16 years, they have developed a relationship that has evolved from player and coach to mentor and mentee. Together, they have positively impacted the lives of young athletes through sports, particularly basketball. Their program is uniquely designed to help players grow both on the court and as individuals.
Where is NPB?
NPB is based in greater Philadelphia with a various amount of locations throughout the city and nearby suburbs. This includes, but isn't limited to La Salle College High School, Germantown Academy, Springside Chestnut Hill Academy (SCH), Gwynedd Mercy Academy (GMA), and St. Philip Neri (SPN).
What is your mission?
To create a culture that helps young athletes develop the next play mentality. This mentality will help make them more resilient, confident, and successful both on and off the courts.
Can I participate in NPB and still do another sport/team?
Of course! At NPB we believe in the benefit of playing multiple sports. While we provide an elite basketball development program, we do recognize that players will participate in multiple sports/activities, and that there will be conflicts.
How old do I have to be to join NPB?
NPB offers programs for 3rd to 12th graders, both girls and boys.
How do I join?
Register for a program on the Teams/Clinics/Leagues page or contact us at info@nextplaybasketball.com
Does NPB help with college recruiting?
NPB assists in the college recruiting process for both parents and children. We make sure to get players seen by college coaches and know which events to attend. Many of our coaches have college coaching or playing experience and will assist players in prepping to play basketball at the colligate level.
Do you offer programs other than AAU?
Yes! We offer development programs at all levels. If an athlete does not want to play AAU, or doesn't make the team, we still want to help them focus on how to get better and move towards their basketball goals.
How do I become a NPB coach/staff?
